the loss of hope
who: lightning & hope
summary: hope has been cleansed by Bhunivelze, efficiently possessed by him.
Hope had been missing for nearing one hundred years. No one went to go look for him, no one went to see if he was still alive and many thought that he disappeared in the Chaos. Unfortunately, he was found by Bhunivelze and continuously tortured until he succumbed to the mental, physical and emotion wounds and gave into the tormenting God. Now that he did not have direct control, he also was finally able to leave the Arc on his own -- but only for Bhunivelze's search. Hope wanted to find Lightning, but the Bhunivelze's wish was to revive the savior prematurely and force her into a sense of trust.
Finally, he was able to find her within the depths of Valhalla, somewhere in the chaos he saw a single, blinding light. The light was the only source and he pulled out his boomerang and emotionlessly walked in the direction of the light until the brightness had enveloped him. Hope rose his head back, tilted it back all the way until he saw Lightning's face and Hope nearly lost control of his emotions but the means of possession. Hope had not seen Lightning in so long that his heart fluttered in his chest and his first reaction was to slightly curve his lips into a smile.
"I found you. It is finally time, awake savior." Hope moved his left hand, pressed it down against the edge of her leg and pushed inwards. A brilliant light set from his hand and forced the crystal to break there, a smaller amount of force was applied against to create more fractures until he pulled his hand away. Hope awaited the uncrystallization to process, his face a vacant expression and arms by his side with both eyes attuned to the location with the fractures.

Claire "Lightning" Farron
Remaining in the depths of Valhalla, she had known about Serah's death, in which she had blamed herself for. Not knowing that Hope was there, she continued to remain silent and in her crystal stasis, before she had heard the voice telling her that it was time to awake. As the crystal started to disappear, she then started to gaze her aqua eyes at the silver haired male, Hope Estheim. The crystal was breaking and dissipating at the moment, as she looked at him with an emotionless expression on her face at the moment. "Hope.." She said his name, It was true that the Rose haired female hasn't seen him in a very long time. At least not since after the battle of Orphan and against Sanctum in order to save Cocoon.
As she then started to stand up, she had heard the words 'savior,' though this made the Rose haired female confused. A savior? Who would want to make someone like Lightning a savior? "I don't understand, Hope. How am I a savior?" She asked the silver haired male, as she continued to focus her gaze on the male for the time being. She was now out of her crystal stasis, and now she had another task. She just needed to know exactly what it was. She didn't show any signs of emotions at all. At least not since Serah's death.

"We can save the ones that are left, not without your help though." Hope took a few steps back and raised his hand and made a motion with his fingers for her to come off the crystalline throne she had slumbered upon. "I knew I could find you." He stated with the utmost sincerity, as much as he could muster.
"He found me when I fell into the sea of Chaos and offered to help me, to save my soul, in exchange for me to search for you. I have been looking for your for nearly one hundred years, Light. All of the Fal'Cie are dead with exception of one that keep some of humanity alive, but just barely." Hope tightened his fist to make emphasis on the direness of the situation. Unfortunately, Hope had a difficult time control his real emotions and suddenly broke the stiffened facade.
"I'm so happy to see you again, I knew you were still alive. I could feel it, I just had to keep looking." Hope nodded up towards her, placed his hand on his heart and genuinely smiled.

Not showing any emotion not only in her tone of voice, but on her facial expression as well, Lightning had watched Hope take a few steps back, as she started to walk a couple of steps away from the throne of Etro. She heard him tell her that he knew that he could find her. This had caused the woman to wonder how Hope had found her in the vicinity of Valhalla. Heaving a quiet but heavy sigh, she continued to gaze her Aqua eyes at the silver haired male, knowing that she had a lot of questions to ask Hope. "You believe that I can save the souls of this world that are left?" She asked him. "Hope.." She said his name, then looked down at the ground for a brief moment, keeping her facial expression emotionless for the time being.
"Hope, how did you find me here? How did you get to Valhalla to find me? This place here is nothing but chaos.." Lightning commented, as another heavy sigh started to escape the rose haired female's lips. As she listened to him explain that Bhunivelze had found him after falling in the sea of Chaos, she simply nodded to him. "Bhunivelze.. I'm not sure if should trust him or not.." She responded to Hope, as she then listened to him tell her that all of the Fal'Cie are dead except for one that's barely keeping some of humanity in Nova Chrysalia alive. She had wondered if there were any L'Cie left in Nova Chrysalia.
As she then heard him tell her that he was happy to see her again, she just couldn't smile at all. It was as if Serah's death had left a huge hole in Lightning's heart. She felt as if it was her fault that her younger sister had died. Heaving a heavy sigh, she nodded to Hope, as she saw the smile on his face. She even saw him placing a hand on his heart, though she didn't quite know how to react to the silver haired male's gesture. "Hope.. It's good to see you too.. Tell me though.. Why should I trust Bhunivelze?" She asked him.

He could not soften his expression and make an attempt to comfort her like he had done for him when he felt a hole in his own heart. "Light, the chaos is going to make everyone disappear and all the souls will never be reborn. Etro is dead. Once that happens, there is no more Serah, no more Snow and no more me. It is not so much the fact that I trust him, but there is nowhere for the souls to go and he wishes to create a new world for humanity. A fresh start with a clean plate where Chaos cannot destroy it." Hope moved his hand from his heart and placed it into his silvery hair, smoothed some of it back and waited eagerly for her reply.
"I want to know that there would still be a place where we could meet again, even if it is not Pulse, Cocoon or Nova." Hope raised his eyes, searched around the darkness in the chaos and moved his hand into it with concern. "The chaos has spread since the Death of Caius."
Claire "Lightning" Farron
"Hope.. How long will it be before Bhunivelze starts to create the world for humanity?" The rose haired female asked the other male, before hearing his comment about how the chaos had spread since the death of Caius Ballad, her former nemesis. Heaving a heavy sigh, Lightning just simply nodded to him. "A new world for humanity.." She said to him, though what she what she wasn't sure about was that she could go into the forbidden timeline. She didn't know about her savior powers either. She also didn't know that Etro will need to be revived. She glanced down at the ground with her aqua eyes, as she thought to herself. Hope seemed to have grown since I last saw him.. But if what he's saying is true.. Then.. I have no choice but to believe him. She thought to herself.
"I need to know more about Bhunivelze's plan to create a new world. Tell me, Hope. What is it that I have to do?" Lightning asked him, her eyes looking emotionless at the moment. She took one more step towards him, as a heavy sigh started to escape the rose haired female's lips. She needed answers, in order to accept what seemed to be her true fate. She wanted to see Serah again. To see her younger sister smile. Glancing her aqua eyes back at the silver haired male, another sigh started to escape her lips, as she waited for his answer.

"One month." He said without a single ounce of conviction on his tongue. The following question came with much insecurity on his part, but he would need to reply adequately to make it believable that he needed her for this. Hope's own heart wished a similar fate, but not at the expense of Light. He snapped his fingers and pointed from the direction he came from. "We must find a way to erase the chaos from the past, to correct the timeline and find a way to stop certain events from happening at all to slow the chaos down. I am able to go with you, he has presented me with powers to do so." Hope smiled genuinely at her, both of his arms outstretched this time.
"It has been a long time, could we travel as we did centuries ago?" Hope opened his arms, which was partially resisted by Bhunivelze's influence but Hope's will had overtaken that part of him. Hope wished to show her that he did her no harm and that he, especially of the others, had missed her in his own right.
Claire "Lightning" Farron
"So you have the powers to go through the timeline and correct it?" She asked him, as she heaved another sigh. "Yes.. It has been a long time since we've traveled. Many centuries ago, if I remember right." She responded to him, before noticing him opening his arms. She didn't know what to say to Hope's gesture at the moment. She wasn't quite sure how Hope, when he was younger, had felt about her. She had remembered giving him her knife during that time that Hope had his grudge against Snow for his motheer's death. She then remembered him giving her the knife back telling her that he didn't need it anymore. She had remembered it all.
"Hope.." Lightning said his name, before she took another step towards the silver haired male. "Hope.. Lead the way.. Take me to where you intended to take me. If this is to save Serah, then so be it. I know that she is gone, and that her death is my fault." She said to him, still using the same emotionless tone in her voice. She then held her hand out to him, her aqua eyes still gazing at Hope.

"I have the touch of a God, it is similar to a purifier. It appears that I can give life to the gates again, even ones that have been without life for a very long time.." When she suddenly took a step forward and began to to discuss how she felt about Serah, her death and how she wanted to right that. "I will do my best to not let you down, Light." Hope was happy to take her hand, but he was unable to smile and show how happy he was to be doing so.
Using his right hand, he pulled her with him into the floating chaos before using his palm to open a strange opening that showed them the Historia Crux. Once they were in, the two were floating there in the space in time.
"When do you believe there could have been an influx of Chaos in the past?"
Claire "Lightning" Farron
"The touch of a God?" Lightning asked him, as she continued to look into his eyes. She heaved another sigh, as she had taken a step forward. She had already told him about how she felt about Serah. "I know you won't let me downs, Hope. At least I hope you don't." She said to him, her facial expression remaining emotionless. If Hope allowed her to do so, Lightning would place her hand on his shoulder and looked into his Emerald eyes with her Aqua eyes for a brief moment. "Hope.. I trust you.. Let's do this. Let's remove the concentrated forms of chaos to keep it from flooding the world. I want to see Serah again. I never got to say goodbye to her when she passed. I feel that it is my fault. I feel that her death is my fault, so I need to make things right with Serah." She explained to Hope, before she then removed her hand off his shoulder.
It was then that Lightning had started to follow Hope into the floating chaos before watching him open a strange opening. She then started to enter the Historia Crux, glancing her Aqua eyes around the area for a brief moment. "This.. This must be the Historia crux. Is this what Serah and Noel had used to get to Valhalla? Is this how Noel and Serah had started to attempt to save the future?" She asked Hope, now being curious on the Historia Crux. She had never knew about this due to being in Valhalla fighting Caius Ballad in Valhalla. As she heard Hope's question once more, she glanced his eyes towards him, whilst floating in the space of time. "I believe it started around 500 AF." She said to him. She had known that when Serah died, Hope and Noel were in 500 AF and that was when the chaos was spreading.
